For a fixed deposit with compounding, maturity is calculated as:
A = P × (1 + r/n)n×t
where P is the principal, r the annual rate, n the compounding frequency per year (4 for quarterly) and t the tenure in years. For a recurring deposit, each monthly instalment is compounded for the period it remains invested.

Yes. Interest is added to your income and taxed at your slab rate. Banks deduct TDS when interest exceeds the prescribed threshold unless a valid declaration is submitted where eligible.
An FD is a one-time lump-sum deposit; an RD involves fixed monthly deposits over the tenure.
Most banks compound FD interest quarterly. Check your bank’s terms.
