How it works

How the calculation works

Your CTC includes everything the employer spends on you — including amounts you do not receive in hand. Take-home salary is calculated as:

In-hand salary = Gross salary − Employee PF − Professional tax − Income tax (TDS)

Gross salary itself excludes employer-side costs such as the employer’s PF contribution, gratuity provision and insurance premiums. That is why in-hand pay is usually noticeably lower than CTC ÷ 12.
