Overview

What is TDS Return Filing?

Businesses and individuals who deduct tax at source (TDS) or collect tax at source (TCS) must deposit the tax and file quarterly statements. Form 24Q covers TDS on salaries, 26Q covers other payments to residents, 27Q covers payments to non-residents, and 27EQ covers TCS.

Errors in PAN, challan details or section codes lead to defaults and demands on the TRACES portal. We validate every entry before filing and help resolve past defaults.

TDS returns are filed quarterly. The usual due dates are 31 July, 31 October and 31 January for the first three quarters and 31 May for the last quarter, subject to any extension notified by CBDT.

A late fee is levied per day of delay (capped at the TDS amount), and penalties may apply in some cases. Interest is also charged on late deduction or late payment of TDS.

Form 16 is the TDS certificate for salary income, while Form 16A is issued for TDS on other payments such as professional fees, rent or interest.

Yes. Every person required to deduct or collect tax at source must obtain a TAN and quote it in all TDS returns and challans. We can apply for TAN on your behalf.
